Joi Williams: Marketing & Management '24 - Doing What You Love

Joi Williams

BA Marketing and Management '24

What inspired you to pursue your degree and major?

Fashion has always been my passion ever since I saw my first America's Next Top Model episode. I knew in some way, shape, or form this is the route I wanted my life to go. When college decision time came around in high school, I applied for all arts and fashion-related schools because I wanted to study something that I actually wanted to work in, and winning a scholarship to Wade through my pageant made the decision so much easier!

What is your career goal?

My career goal, ultimately, is to be a household name. I want to make a difference in the fashion industry by involving my philanthropic work with my work in modeling and merge the two. I have been pursuing modeling professionally since I was about 15 and have walked in NYFW, LAFW, and London Fashion Week. I would love to eventually have my own marketing and PR agency representing young influencers and models.

What are some of your most memorable moments so far while a student at Wade College?

Some of my most memorable moments are visiting Neiman Marcus with the rest of the students to look at the holiday displays and special showings! We were able to see some beautiful Schiaparelli pieces, who is one of my favorite designers.

What has been your favorite class so far? Why?

My favorite class so far has been Trend Forecasting. I loved being able to learn about how to keep up with or even spot current trends.

What do you enjoy most about your Wade College experience?

I enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere at Wade! I think with a lot of schools some students can seem lost and unseen but at Wade, every staff, faculty member and student is looking out for you and wants you to succeed.

What advice would you give to a brand-new student?

I would tell them to get involved! With a smaller campus, there is room for everyone to get involved someway, somehow. There are so many awesome clubs and opportunities for you to indulge in and experience with fellow students. I had the opportunity to walk in the Annual Fashion Show showcasing students' work at Wade and it came with even more opportunities after that!

Anything else you'd like to share?

I love that Wade gives everyone the chance to be themselves and allows students to express themselves not only on campus but through work and assignments! SO thankful for my Wade family.
