Kereice Williams ’15, Materials Planner

AA Merchandising and Design | Materials Planner at Dal-Tile

What does “a day in the life of” you look like?

My job at Dal-Tile allows me to oversee all of the West Coast inventory – California, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake and Seattle. I ensure granite, marble, and quartz product are being ordered and sent out to those states, based on their demand. I also enjoy being a full-time mom of my daughter Nazanin and creating content on our YouTube channel. I’m also currently working on my own business venture with the helpful insight I inquired from attending Wade College!

How did your education at Wade College help prepare you for what you are doing today?

What I really enjoyed about Wade College was 90% of the classes were specific to what I needed for my future profession, and am able to see how it benefits through my career. I am a visual, hands-on learner, and all of classes really helped me to dig into my creative side as well as intellect. The professors were wonderful and all were current working professionals in the field they taught.

What opportunities, decisions, or events shaped your professional life?

So many including working market tradeshows locally in Dallas and Las Vegas. My biggest opportunity was as my graduation day approached, I looked on Wade’s Career Connection and noticed I didn’t see any opportunities that fit me at the time. Fortunately, I later had a meeting with Ms. Magee who informed me of Fossil Group, Inc. hiring for a temporary Product Development Coordinator. I immediately hopped on the ball and within a short period of time, got an interview, and got my first corporate job starting two weeks after graduation! I truly can’t thank Ms. Magee enough for assisting and directing me to Fossil because that temporary position into a permanent position, and really kicked off my professional career. Since Fossil, I have worked for Vari as Product Specialist, Pier 1 Imports, Inc. as Sourcing Specialist, and now one of my dream jobs as a Material Planner.

What is your advice for students preparing for their fields of study?

Trust the education process. Wade is such a wonderful school, honestly. Pay attention in your classes and take it seriously. Make sure too that you’re volunteering for as many opportunities as you can and NETWORK like a bumble bee while doing so! Do not be afraid to ask your professor questions and if you need help with anything, just ask as the help is always there. No matter your major, use every assignment as your opportunity to shine because you will get that professional input you need to shine your brightest disco ball!
