Mileybi Hernandez

BA Fashion Design '23

What inspired you to pursue your degree and major?

The thing that inspired me was a book report in high school in 11th grade during English class where I did my very first fashion illustration after that I went to a fashion class in 12th grade.

What is your career goal?

Honestly, we all want our studio and just work on our inspirations and bring them to life and some just want to open their boutique/shop and others want to work under a company and I welcome all these to my life.

What are some of your most memorable moments so far at Wade College?

The most memorable thing that has ever happened to me was the first outfit I made here. Everything was completely mine. The mood board, trend research, the illustrations, the outfit. And that just gave me the motivation not to give up.

What has been your favorite class so far? Why?

Draping class is and will always be my favorite class. Just the hands-on work and seeing how the garment slowly comes all together is always a joy. After that, it would be CAD because I love Illustrator.

What do you enjoy most about your Wade College experience?

The most enjoyable thing is being able to see yourself grow little by little.

What advice would you give to a brand-new student?

Start your portfolio so you don't stress out later. Pace yourself!
