Miranda Tovar

AA Interior Deisgn '23

What inspired you to pursue your degree and major?

What inspired me to pursue my degree and major has been and will always be my High School teacher Mrs. Allen. She is an interior design teacher at the North Mesquite High School and because of her, I fell in love with Interior Design.

What is your career goal?

My career goal is to receive my Bachelor's and get a stable job where I can grow as a person and help grow my family.

Where are you working at the DMC? What is your title and how did you get this position?

I am currently working at DMC in the PORTICO showroom as a TEMP assistant. I have been working with Portico as a temp for the big markets for about 6 markets now.

How has your experience at market been so far? Would you recommend this to other students?

My experience at this market has been very different than normal, since getting this position you get to see a lot backstage and how market is done, and what happens. I totally recommend it to everyone to do market at least once every year. It is fun, extra money, and a great way to meet new people and industries.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I want to share with everyone to not let school manage your life and let schoolwork and homework overtake your lifestyle. Go out, meet people, make friends, and even go out with classmates for brunch or dinner because that will make life much more fun and you won’t have so much build-up which helps focus more in class and enjoy it.
